TTB :(


Day 10 at Sasquatch CF

Snatch Balance work just to 45#
Then, Snatch 2-2-2-1-1... forgot the progression... maybe 5# increments to 75#.
Metcon: 9 rounds of 4 hang cleans (rx+ at 75#) / 8 TTB / 1 min rest

I was pretty sore from the 250 squats and 125 KBS yesterday so the snatch balance turned into just a warm up of the hips. Worked up to 75# on the snatch and it felt pretty easy on the second attempt. All I needed was for Tim to tell me to commit. I probably had 80# in me today but I didn't really want to stress out the hips too much.
It's been a while since I went this heavy on HPCs and they were unbroken and quick. Also, I was more aware of my form for fear of ending up with the terrible bruises on my thigh. Right side looks ok, left side has some minor bruising. TTBs were terrible but I managed to string 2s and 3s. Ripped on the 7th round so I had to do v-ups. Next time, switch to GHDs instead now that they have a machine (yay!).
Something feels weird in my right wrist / forearm. When I hold my hand out in front with palms down and rotate wrist so thumb is up, hurts at about 90 degrees. Monitor and lay off it!

Toast

Man, I'm sore. First two in a row again and I really felt that fatigue. I don't think my triceps have fully recovered from last week's push up WOD yet but they're finally not too painful to roll out with a lacrosse ball. Damn. Today, my traps are super sore from those super fast HPCs on Monday! Good thing I have my trusty lacrosse ball here at work with me!

Monday's WOD
BS 5RM: 120#
Metcon: 4:56 (40# HPC, 6# WB)

Apparently, the last time I have a recorded BS 5RM was from 8/24/09 at 105#. I'm not exactly sure how comparable it is. 120# was rough on the 5th rep but thanks to Val and Megan, I got through it. That Metcon sprint was fun but even at a 6# WB, I still hate that movement. The cool thing is that I felt like my cardio and muscle strength was around the same... they both fell apart around 3:30.

Tuesday's WOD

I have a DH but I really have to be fresh to be able to do one. I was nowhere near fresh though...

Metcon: 11:59 (Jerks at 55#, 1 pood KBS)

I walked into this WOD with super sore traps so the goal was not to put the bar down on the jerks so I wouldn't have to clean the damn thing again. Success! I really fought hard to not put the bar down in the last two rounds. Thanks to Kurt coaching my breathing, I was able to make it through but man, I couldn't help but take those hyperventilating breaths to match the speed of KBSes. Burpees were consistently slow but unbroken. Broken once on the KBSes at each of the last two rounds.

Traps feel destroyed this morning. If it wasn't for that, I'd totally come in to do WOD 11.2 with everyone else but given that and also with my triceps still recovering, I guess I should wait one more day.

Between the Chungs...

... we have one fully functional body.

My arms, traps are super sore from Sunday's WOD.
My hip, left wrist are still recovering.
JJ's back, right wrist are still recovering.

Last weekend was JJ's birthday so we cheated a little bit. Peruvian food where our main dish was paella. We threw down some beers. Ate some sandwiches (with bread!). Lattes. Coconut custard cake from Metropolish. Delish.

In the week now so back at eating paleo. Been good this week so far!

Sunday's WOD:
5 rounds of:
10 pullups
20 HPCs at 45#
10 push presses at 45#
Just under 15min.

First round of pullups unbroken AND the second round was only broken once. I think my pullup endurance is finally coming along although today, 3 days after that WOD, I still can't straighten my arms without pain. Strange.
Also got a popped blood blister... boo
HPCs felt good considering it was my first time in months. No pain on hip. My traps are still killing me today.
Tried a push jerk but my hip just isn't ready for that yet so stuck with the push presses.

500m row after using minimal lower body: 2:16


Tuesday's WOD
5 rounds of
20 bench presses at 40#
Jog 2 hallway lengths
8:34

Bench presses were unbroken in first round. Broke up once in second round. Then started to go downhill from there. Worked hard to fight through 3. Muscles just failing at that point.
Good to jog down hallway and get moving!

2 x 500m row (2:11, 2:16). Just love jumping on the rower!

3 x 10 back extensions. Want to strengthen back since that movement causes no hip pain.

Tripped on the boards downstairs. That was not good for my hip :(

A little less pain in the hip, a little more pain in the wrist...

I might just be minor-injury-prone or something... can't I go a week without pulling/hurting something? People at work always think they're joking when they ask me "what did you hurt while doing crossfit today"...
Wrist hurts today... either laptop keyboard or handstands maybe. I got an ergonomic keyboard today so hopefully that problem will resolve itself.
Nice to be able to do a WOD today even though I still can't do much with the hip.

This morning, I did yesterday's strength and today's WOD.
Press 5-5-5+: 43-49-56 (9). Felt solid.
15 Handstand negatives: these were kind of fun after you get over falling on your head. Nice to know that I can at least do the negatives on one ab mat.

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 of HPC @ 63# and Ring dips.
HPCs were fast and felt good. Ring dips were pretty good too. Broke once in each of the 8, 7, 6, and 5 rounds.

Worked on some kipping pullups 5x5.

I'm back on the swing as to whether I should compete at Sectionals or not. I know I'm not training very hard and I don't really have much time to but I would love to just experience that atmosphere. If I can do a WOD un-scaled, great. If not, whatever. I'm not expecting much given the schedule... but then, the idea of competing at Sectionals still scares the hell out of me. Makes me nervous thinking about it. I might be last. I don't know. Think about it some more tomorrow... maybe the answer will just come to me (sleepy passive mode).

Pre WOD (5:30am): muscle milk light
Breakfast (8:30am): 1 of JJ's crabcakes, 1 sunnyside up egg, some veggies (zucchini, squash) with crushed almonds, 1 espresso
Mid-morning snack: handful of almonds and dried cranberries, 1 matcha green tea
Lunch (12:30pm): beef and chicken chili, roasted veggies (carrots, butternut squash, eggplant)
Mid-afternoon snack: handful of almonds and dried cranberries (I forgot paleo kit today)
Dinner (7:30pm): From Townhouse (work meal) - seared ahi tuna (covered in crushed peppercorns and salt), broccolini (I tasted butter)
